4 May 2002 In May 2002, Palestinian Refugee ResearchNet will enter its sixth year of activity. During this period, over 100,000 visitors have visited the PRRN website ( http://www.prrn.org ), or the associated website of the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator ( http://www.unsco.org ).

As of 31 March 2002, there had been some 60,058 visitors to PRRN and 32,655 visitors to UNSCO. An average of 850 persons per week visit the sites. The websites have been accessed by users in at least 120 different countries around the world [1] .

Monitoring of visitors to PRRN suggests that 41.9% of all visitors are located in Canada and the US, 15.7% in Europe, 8.5% in the Middle East, 19.6% elsewhere in Asia, Africa, or Latin America, and 14.3% are unknown. Monitoring data shows that visitors have come from at least 17 different countries in the region, including several (Iran, Syria, Sudan, Yemen) where access to the latest international research on the Palestinian refugee issue might otherwise be problematic. In the case of the UNSCO website, 13.2% of visitors are located in the Middle East (most in Israel or Palestine).

Users continue to report a high degree of satisfaction with the PRRN website. Of the respondents who have completed the online survey since January 2001, 45% indicated that they found it "very useful," 55% found it "useful," and none found it "not useful."

In the case of the FOFOGNET email digest (on Palestinian refugees) and PALDEV email digest (on West Bank/Gaza development issues), some 3,000 issues have been distributed to date. At an average of 3.5 items per digest, this is approximately 10,500 articles, announcements, and other news items disseminated since the inception of the project. Presently, a total of 579 subscribers from 22 countries [2] belong to the two lists.
